This hands-on group is designed to enhance self-knowledge and develop self-advocacy skills in Autistic youth and teens ages 8-12. Participants will learn about various components of self-advocacy including: understanding their strengths, motivators, and support needs. Together we will explore communication, social, and sensory profiles, character strengths, neurodiversity, and self-advocacy tools. In the final session, group members will learn how to ‘put it all together’ to create a personal profile that they can use to advocate for their needs at school, recreational activities, and in the community. Throughout the sessions, group members will engage in activities designed to promote a greater understanding of self and be encouraged to ‘exist loudly'

Full Refund (-10% Admin Fee): 30+ calendar days’ notice prior to service date

Registration NotesPlease note: Once a group registration request is received on My Community Hub, a Kerry’s Place Intake staff will reach out to request updated documentation, as needed. Documentation includes: Written diagnosis of ASD, Kerry’s Place Service Agreement, Supported Person Profile (valid for 1 year), Media Release, and others as needed.
You will have the opportunity to attend a sample session so your child can meet the staff facilitating the group and familiarize themselves with the space the group will take place in.
You will receive a reminder email 48 hours prior to the session from the facilitators that will include further details related to drop-off and pick-up instructions, sign-in/sign-out procedures or Teams link (if applicable).
