Dementia comes with losses and triggers grief. This session explores the types of grief experienced by care partners, tips on coping, and what to say to a person with memory loss when their care partner/spouse/family member has died

Presented by Danielle Farrell who has a degree in psychology from York University and a diploma in Gerontology from Humber College. She has worked in the field of gerontology for 26 years and has been with the Alzheimer Society Peel for many years in a variety of roles. Her focus has been on bringing awareness, education, referrals to service, advocacy, and support, to people living with dementia, and their family members. She is the daughter of a parent with a diagnosis of vascular dementia, and both her grandmothers had Alzheimer’s disease. It is both her professional, and personal pleasure, to bring understanding about dementia and caregiving to our community.
