Heart and Stroke Foundation to host screening clinic in Brampton

Article from Brampton Guardian

BRAMPTON – The Heart and Stroke Foundation will host a screening clinic Sunday at the Dasmesh Darbar Temple in Brampton on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

South Asians are considered high risk for cardiovascular diseases, and the purpose of the clinic is to educate the community about regular screening and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

During the event, Sikh community members aged 18 and older will be screened for cardiovascular risk factors – waist circumference, blood pressure, atrial fibrillation (irregular heart rhythm) and cholesterol levels.

Nutritionist Harjeet Sandhu will also offer free nutritional consultation to participants at the event.

The screening is free to South Asian participants and no health card is required.

The temple is located at 4555 Ebenezer Rd.

It is the second RBC Screening Clinic of the year – a similar event was held last weekend at the Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Scarborough.
